I'm a man in my 50's and have been training with Lee for about a year.  Before I began, I had been a runner and belonged to the gym for many years; however, I didn't know anything about weights or how to use the equipment, and so, I simply avoided that part of the gym.   I had never been happy with the way my upper body looked (again, I was a runner!), and finally decided after watching Lee with other clients for several months that I was ready to learn.   From the beginning, Lee made me very comfortable and introduced me to concepts regarding nutrition, exercise and equipment in a way I could understand.   His level of professionalism and dedication to my progress and goals has been appreciated and encouraging.   I would highly recommend anyone who wants to improve their knowledge of exercise and comfort level in the gym work with Lee.  I enjoy training with him and he has really helped demystify the whole weight-room experience.

I have worked with Lee for several years now and feel I have benefited greatly from his coaching and advice.  He is very patient with me!  He responds with humor to my whining and continues gently but insistently prodding me along to reach my fitness goals.  Lee keeps careful track of the fitness routines he assigns me, and varies them if a physical problem pops up with me and to keep our sessions from becoming too routine.  Recently, I was reading a medical book on the human body and found much of what the author recommended doing for physical health, Lee had had me doing for years!

Lee has been my personal trainer for several years.  He has designed work-out programs for me that are safe and effective as well as helping me set goals that are realistic.  Lee is a motivator – challenging me to work hard to achieve my health and fitness expectations.

The environment at Fitness Plus is condusive to good training.  The atmosphere is quiet and I always feel comfortable on the equipment.

Wow- where do I even begin with explaining how fundamentally my life has changed since January 2006, when I began to take my health, well-being and life seriously (although I started training in late November, I really didn't take any of this seriously until January)?  The numbers are easy- I've lost about 30 pounds, 21 inches and 8% body fat over the course of 7 months.  I haven't eaten sugar in 3 years.  I can wear clothes that have hung in my closet for a couple of years and have even had to get those altered, people are making kind comments about my appearance, blah blah blah.  Problem is, I'd had all of that before and I always gained it back- I knew this time I needed to do things differently.

I'd never had much of an exercise program- I would walk occasionally, but that's about it.  I had read of the benefits of strength training, but had no idea where to begin.  My first "ah ha" moment- joining 24 Hour Fitness and deciding to train with Lee.  Lee is truly a miracle in my life- I honestly don't believe I would be where I'm at today if it weren't for his dedication and focus on getting me healthy.  I could go on and on about our Monday/Wednesday morning sessions and what they've meant to me, but I'll focus on a couple of specific examples here.  In January 2006 I had about a 10 pound weight loss and lost inches, too.  I kept doing the same things I'd been doing in February but at the end of February according to my scale I hadn't lost any weight.  The morning of my March weigh-in, I almost called to cancel our session because I was so devastated that I'd worked this hard and hadn't lost any weight.  My second "ah ha" moment- I didn't cancel and according to 24 Hour's scales, I hadn't lost any weight.  I was devastated and was sure Lee was going to be upset with me for not working hard enough.  He didn't say anything at that point, and we proceeded with measurements, where I lost a nice amount of inches and body fat.  Instead of being upset/judgmental with me, Lee was excited about my progress in February and said that the scale is not the sole arbiter of "success."  His handling of me that day is the reason that I keep coming back- to have a trainer that totally understood where I was at at that moment and "talked me down" from it is something that I can never thank him enough for.  He truly is my biggest cheerleader.

In late January/early February, we (and I use the term "we" purposefully because it truly is a team effort between me and Lee) decided I should train to run a 5k in May/June 2006.  Note I had never run before.  We developed a training schedule, which literally began with "run 1 minute/walk awhile."  Over the months I progressed to where on April 30, 2006 I ran the Trolley Run- I ran 2 miles, walked 1 mile and ran 1 mile in about 48 minutes- I was crying at the end of the race I was so emotional and Lee was one of the first people I called.  On June 3, 2006, I ran the entire Hospital Hill 5k in 36.19 and felt great- Lee, again, was one of the first people I called.  I ran the Race for the Cure 5k in August 2006.  With that goal having been met, Lee and I are working on another goal- sprint triathlon/half-marathon/rock climbing.  We're still undecided about the goal, but we're working on it together and I know it will be great.

My "before" and "after" pictures do not even begin to tell the story of my journey over these past several months- it's been very emotional and empowering and I'm very grateful that Lee has been along for the ride.
